Contrasted morphologies in nanostructured Janus W-Cu columns

نویسندگان

چکیده

Janus-like W-Cu films exhibiting a tilted columnar architecture are prepared by GLAD co-sputtering using W and Cu targets. Co-deposition of these two-immiscible metals leads to contrasted morphologies in the columns growth. Observations scanning electron microscopy reveal different structural features at micro- nanoscales as face or target. In front flux, dense with saw-tooth profile, whereas granular rough aspect is produced for opposite side receiving atoms. A finer analysis high resolution transmission supports morphologies. Growth mechanisms well occurrence diverse crystallographic phases (bcc α-W, fcc even disordered WxCu1-x alloy despite immiscibility metals) through cross-section discussed.

Tailoring self-organized nanostructured morphologies in kilometer-long polymer fiber

While nanowires and nanospheres have been utilized in the design of a diverse array of nanoscale devices, recent schemes frequently require nanoscale architectures of higher complexity. However, conventional techniques are largely unsatisfactory for the production of more intricate nanoscale shapes and patterns, and even successful fabrication methods are incompatible with large-scale productio...

Soot Combustion over Nanostructured Ceria with Different Morphologies

In this study, nano-structure ceria with three different morphologies (nanorod, nanoparticle and flake) have been prepared by hydrothermal and solvothermal methods. The ceria samples were deeply characterized by XRD, SEM, TEM, H2-TPR, XPS and in-situ DRIFTS, and tested for soot combustion in absence/presence NO atmospheres under loose and tight contact conditions. The prepared ceria samples exh...

Synthesis, Morphologies and Building Applications of Nanostructured Polymers

Nanostructured polymers (NSPs) are polymeric materials in the size of nanoscale, normally consisting of nanoparticles, nanofibers, nanowires, nanospheres and other morphologies. Polymer nanoparticles (PNPs) can be fabricated either by physical methods (i.e., solvent evaporation, nanoprecipitation, salting out) or by direct nanosynthesis, using microor nanoemulsions with nanoreactor compartments...

XRD and VSM Analysis of Nanostructured Cu-Co Alloys

Results of an experimental study of Cu-Co alloys containing 0.3 to 5.0 wt% Co are presented. A series of solution annealed Cu-Co alloys were analyzed by x-ray diffraction (XRD) and vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM). Each Ka doublet was resolved by fitting a Pearson Type VII profile. Precise lattice parameter as a function of cobalt content deviated significantly from Vegard’s law but was in r...

Controlled synthesis and catalytic activity of copper sulfide nanostructured assemblies with different morphologies.

A simple, template-free and mild solution chemistry route was employed to synthesize diverse copper sulfide (CuS) nanostructured assemblies at 70 °C by varying the solvent (water or ethylene glycol, or their ratios (3:1, 1:1 and 1:3)). The CuS structures in the shape of spheres and nanotubes were found to be assemblies of either nanoplates or nanoparticles. The nanotube formation was elaboratel...
